BWD Launches TMP Consulting Engineers

Saturday, August 14th, 2010
Built using Wordpress

Designed and Developed by Brackish Waters Design

Brackish Waters Design launched on August 13th, the new website for TMP Consulting Engineers in Boston, MA.

It was asked of BWD to create a website that looked similar to the sister company, TMP Toronto, but also separates the two individual companies’ presence on the web.  The new website includes a custom Wordpress Theme, slideshow, and form for downloading project summaries.

“Jim Magarian and Debbie Ojala were a pleasure to work with on this project.  Their continual communication and willingness to allow BWD to make suggested enhancements a reality allowed for this project to launch smoothly. ”

New England Flooring Solutions

New England Flooring Solutions

The great crew over at New England Flooring Solutions has a new site up that I had the pleasure to design and launch for them last month.  It showcases their new branch of the business: floor preparation and finishing machine rentals.  There is no company in Maine that currently has this service and at the reasonable prices that NEFS can offer.

It was a pleasure working with Brad Smolin on this and I hope to hear great things in the months ahead.

PawintheDoor.org to launch in September

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

BWD has donated its services and hosting to help A Paw in the Door find a place on the web.  This wonderful organization not only helps place homeless cats, but also does what it can to ensure these cats are spayed or neutered before placement.

When is it time to update your website?

Are your customers waiting to see your products?

Are your customers waiting to see your products?

If you have taken the first steps to moving your business to the web and started developing a web presence, when or why should you consider changing your website?

The first sign you should begin considering this is if you find yourself looking at other businesses or your competition and thinking “Wow, that is a really great website.” Chances are other people are thinkingthe same thing.»

The second sign you should really begin considering this is if you ever get the comment “Oh, I didn’t know you had a website!”.  This is a signal that either your business may not be showing up in search engines or possibly when they visited your site, there was not enough information there to tip the visitor off that it was in fact your site!

The point at which you should call someone like me is when you decide that taking the time to re-build what you have established is too time intensive.  I can take your ideas, problems, or gripes and turn them into something new. Change can be good and I can help.

The saying “you only have one chance to make a first impression” is especially true on the internet. Visitors will leave your site under any inconvenience. Here are just a few:

  • It takes the page too long to load
  • Images don’t show up or take incredibly long to view
  • Broken links to other pages within your own site
  • Issues with viewing any content
  • Weird colors that make text hard to read

Connect to your customers on the Internet!

Connect to your customers on the Internet!

Its no longer just a good idea to have a website for your business but a necessity. No matter what size your company, your customers need to find you and they are using the web to do it.

So where do you begin?» A good place to start would be to compose a list of what you would like the website to do, what it would look like, and what content it would have. Include here sites that you like and also the sites that really turn you away. Chances are your customers will have the same taste.

Once you have this information, a developer can give you a good idea of what options you have available and the next step to take.

The easiest way to begin is to contact me through the website or by calling me direct at (207)577-4188. I can also schedule a time to meet with you in person at your place of business.

Cost of a website

More than a car payment, less than a mortgage…

The most frequently asked question about website design or construction is: “How much does it cost?“  There is no quick answer to this unfortunately as there are many key factors that can change the bottom line of any project and no responsible web designer will give you a flat fee without knowing what they are jumping in to.

Take the time to sit down with the designer and get them familiar with your business and what you would like the website to do for you.  This is the first step to any successful launch and a crucial one.

Other factors to consider and items you should be sure to go over are:

  • Hosting
  • Domain Names
  • Design Structure
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Maintenance and Updates

Contact me today and I can walk you through the first step to getting a quote for your new site.
